What are some current/recent wars/conflicts for students to research?
Q. So here's the deal. I am a math instructor and I am assigning the class a semester project. Since this particular course is an intro course, I know that most of these students aren't all that interested in math. My plan is to incorporate current (or at least fairly recent) events into the project. I am going to have each group do a presentation on an event and have them figure out a bunch of statistics and math figures/models as part of their presentation. At the end, based on the data they made and found, there will be a few reflection questions about what these numbers mean for the families affected and what does it say about their future, etc etc. Here are some places that I have thought would be interesting and has plenty of… [cont.]
