How many ways can you get your belly button pierced? Can you get the actual button pierced? :/?
Q. So i've seen the common ones with just the flap of skin at the top of the button pierced and the bottom of it pierced but can you get the actualle button pierced or is that bad? And can you get a piercing kind of going through the top of the skin, over the button, and kind of a bit into the bottom? Are some more prone to infection? And is it a good idea to get different piercings on the same day?
Asked by girl - Sat Dec 22 02:04:37 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'm not sure if you can get your actual button pierced. I haven't seen it done. Or do you mean something like this? Thats through the button. Yes you can get a piercing going through the top, over the button and out. Someone I know has it. Any piercing is prone to infection. Make sure you baby the new piercing for a month (or if your told another date), clean it, look after, read up about this particular piercing. Heres some pictures/info: Normal one: Multi-navels and navel projects: Horizontal, True, Deep, and other navels: Stories of people getting the particular piercings: Also, the main limit of getting so many piercings is 4. As the body does find it hard to cope. I had 3 done at the same time. (twice on lip and nose).… [cont.]

How do you let your pierced ears close up without getting them infected?
Q. I just got my ears pierced last night, and I absolutely can't stand it. For one thing, I got them done at Wal-Mart so that's already a big mistake right there. The lady who pierced my ears was clumsy and didn't do it right ( I don't have a back piece to my left ear ring.) the one earring keeps falling off, and I'm just tired of it, I don't want to mess with it anymore. Will they get infected if I let them close up?
Asked by Elizabeth - Thu Oct 1 12:43:03 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Go ahead and take them out. Use sea salt water to keep them clean as they heal. To do this, put a teaspoon or so of sea salt in a small cup, add warm water, let it dissolve then soak your earlobe in it for a minute or so, pour out the water and repeat for your other ear. This is a lot better for your skin than using things like alcohol or anything similar. Do this daily for at least a week or two as they heal up. I'd wait at least two months before getting your ears re-pierced if you want to. Take care and I hope this helps! :)

How do I convince my mom to let me get my tongue pierced?
Q. Yesterday I was telling my mom that I want to get my cartilidge pierced, or my tongue pierced. She said cartlidge was okay, but there was no way I would be allowed to get my tongue pierced while I was living at home. The tongue piercing was the one I wanted most. I'm 20, technically I don't need her permission. But knowing her, if I do it she will find way to make my life miserable. I told her that it takes less time to heal, and that really no one can even see it unless you show them. I asked about a tattoo, and she said she thinks girls with tattoos look cheap and trashy. I really want my tongue pierced, how can I get her to say yes?
Asked by any1_4wishing - Fri Jun 22 13:25:58 2007 - - 10 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Get her some factual information about it and ask her to read it. You could also tell her about someone she respects that has their tongue pierced, if you can think of anyone. Don't nag about it, but keep bringing it up every week or so, so she knows it's not just a whim, but you really want it. I think it's great that you don't want to go against your mom :-)

How long to wait to get navel pierced after gallbladder surgery?
Q. I had my gallbladder out via laproscopic surgery nearly 2 months ago. In the new year I want to get my navel pierced and I wonder is this is going to be okay. The incision scar underneath my bellybutton will be fully healed, but I don't know if it will cause any problems for the piercing. Any help would be appreciated!
Asked by Lo B. - Wed Dec 9 07:03:07 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Wait at least 8 weeks, so you can concentrate on getting better, and keeping you immune system happy. After that you should be okay :) And if its going to be pierced through the scar tissue, you'll need to wait at least 6 months so it can heal properly and soften up. Though it dodesn't sound like it will, so it doesn't matter

How do I care for my newly pierced cartilage?
Q. I got my cartilage pierced yesterday, I was told that I have to move my jewlry around while I clean it, BUT when I try to move the ring, I can only move it up and down, and I cannot move the ring to wear the bead can be next to the piercing. I'm really scared... :( When I was looking online, some people say to move it and I found others saying that you will not be able to move it for a couple of days. Is that true and I should just wait? Or, should I be very concerned and see someone about it? I've been washing it with provon and it doesn't hurt, only when I bump or hit it.
Asked by tbpicnics - Fri Sep 28 12:30:25 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There is NO reason to move it while it is healing. It will be very tight for the first few days/weeks until your skin loosens up around the piercing. Moving it can actually tear the fistula and drag crusties inside the piercing, which can irritate it and prolng the healing. You only need to wash with the Provon 1-2 times a day. More than that is overkill and will dry out the piercing. When it begins to produce lymph (the whitish discharge) that means it is beginning to heal. Do not pick the crust, just wash it. Remember, these things take 6-12+ months to heal so just be patient. It will have good and bad days throughout the healing period. Check the forums at tribalectic.com for more aftercare information.

When you get your septum pierced, is it typically with a hoop or circular barbell?
Q. I'm planning on getting mine pierced and just want to know if I'll be able to flip it up and hide it as soon as it's done.

How can I make a pierced ear hole grow up after many years?
Q. While pregnant, my pierced earring hole stretched out so much that I can no longer wear an earring. I can't get it redone until I do something with this original hole.
Asked by Spanteach - Mon Nov 27 11:10:04 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There's not really much you can do about this to be honest. Pierced ears vary from person to person, and there is no guarantee that the hole will close up. Some people's ears are very sensitive and the holes close easily, other people can go for weeks on end without wearing earrings and still have no problems putting earrings back in. The stretchiness will diminish over time, but there is no guarantee by what amount.

What to do about a pierced ear infection?
Q. My ears have been double pierced for about a year, and I've always had earrings in. Just recently I've noticed that one of my earlobes kind of hurts and today i saw a little bit of pus. I took all of my earrings out, but I really don't want them to get infected and then close. Should I clean everything and put it back in, or put something to help my infection clear? Thanks!
Asked by JoseyRam2 - Thu Jan 22 19:15:01 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Clean your ear with rubbing alcohol and go without earrings for one day, then clean them again with alcohol. If there is less pus each time, continue this process until all the pus is gone and does not come back for a few days. If the pus continues for more than three or four days, see a doctor. After the pus is completely gone wear light weight high quality stud earrings for one day and see how your ear looks. The best earrings to wear are the studs that were used to pierce your ears. So long as the pus does not come back, wear the stud earrings day and night for about a week, cleaning and turning them just like you did right after your ears were pierced. You may have developed an allergy to the metal is some of your earrings,… [cont.]

should i get my cartilage pierced with a gun or a needle, and how long does it take for it to heal?
Q. I've been wanting my cartilage pierced for a while and I would like to know if getting it pierced with either a needle or a gun would hurt the most. Also, how long would it take for the piercing to heal. Thanks in advance for the answers.

A. 6 to 8 weeks for healing but i made the mistake of doing it with a gun, just because it was cheaper, and that was a huge mistake, it got infected and left a bump so i had to take it out. i suggest even though its more expensive to get it done with a needle

What remedies are there for a pierced tongue infection?
Q. I have had my tongue pierced for 7 years & have had no problems with it until recently. I am not one to play with my tongue ring and half of the time I forget it's there. Lately, the bottom is a whitish color and is a bit painful to eat with. I have heard that mouthwash with no alcohol helps & I just started doing that yesterday (Morning & night). Am I on the right path? Any suggestions, remedies, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Asked by Kasey2180 - Wed Apr 9 21:25:11 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well if you dont have it gauged, you may want to think about going up to a higher gauge, keeping your tongue at a 14g gives you a greater risk of infection because it allows it to move more. I would recommend going up to an 8g, it gives it less movement, and helps prevent the barbell rubbing against your teeth at night while your sleeping. But if that it not an option for you, or you already have it done. Take the barbell out and leave it rubbing alcohol for about an hour, and rinse your mouth with warm salt water, about 3 times a day for a few days. That should help, and rid your piercing of any infection.

How does getting your tragus pierced compare to getting your lobe pierced?
Q. I'm getting my tragus pierced tomorrow and I've only had my lobe pierced and that didn't hurt at all. I don't like getting shots, but i haven't had any shot in a while. Some people say it hurts a lot and some say it doesn't hurt at all. So whats the normal pain difference in the two piercings?

Yes u do rotate it and u CAN take showers with it in. just make sure u wash it riht when you get out. Leave it in for 6-8 weeks. should always wash hands before u touch any piercing. Leave it in even when u clean it. if its freshly pierced it wont take long for it to close up.
