A. Hey, girl, just keep on dieting but keep it healthy! Diets have come and gone and a new one will be invented tomorrow promising you everything and delivering very little. That is because they are considered something you go on and then go off. In other words, they are temporary. That is not to say they are useless just that they will never give you continued success unless you change some things permanently. What is a Diet Good for? Diets have their place in your weight loss goals. First of all, they can be beneficial to jump starting your metabolism. Kind of a fire starter if you will. Q. I'm 5'3 106lbs. I want to weight between 97-100lbs. I am on an extreme 500 calorie diet. I usually exercise but today i cant because i don't have any energy. I want to be able to stay on this diet and exercise, How can i get more energy?

A. Eating only 500 calories per day is telling your body that there is a famine. Your body will there for slow down your metabolism which in turn will stop any weight loss This low intake of calories will not even come close to providing enough nutrition to maintain life. Being 5' 3" and 106 is an very good combination of weight and height. Why do you think you need to lose that weight? If you continue to eat such a restricted calorie intake you could put yourself at risk for some very serious health problems.

How long is it safe to remain on a 1200 calorie diet?
Q. 5 days ago i started on a 1200 calorie diet. While I am eating healthily, i still find myself feeling slightly weaker/more tired. I am 21, 5 ft 5 in tall and 180 pounds. For how long can i stay on 1200 calories and it be safe?
Asked by Mel B - Sat Feb 6 23:29:17 2010 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well it depends on what you mean by safe. Will you starve to death? No. But the reduction in calories can make you dizzy enough to pass out. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Dehydration can make you feel weak and tired.

What are your favorite things to eat when on a low calorie diet?
Q. I like grilled chicken breast, brown rice & edamame. I also stuff tomatoes with other vegies, a few gracker crumbs & just a bit of cheese, topped with cracker crumbs & a bit of cheese. My boyfried loves them & they only have 25 calories per half a tomato. I also keep chunks of low-fat ham & pineapple with a bit of cinnamon & sweetener in a bowl in the fridge. It's a low calorie diet somewhat low on sugar & fat, with a good balance of grains, vegies, fruit, meat & even some dairy. Any ideas?

You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism. 2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed). 3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water. Does anyone know where I can find the nutrition guidelines for a 1200 calorie a day diet?
Q. Most of them are based on 2000 calorie. What about for a 1,200 calorie diet. I want to know the Fat, Carbs, Protein you are allowed or should have per day.
Asked by sweetlove2323 - Thu Jan 14 10:39:08 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Here are the general guidelines for each category: Protein: 10-35% of total calories Fat: 20-35% of total calories Carbohydrates: 45-65% of total calories So on the average: Protein: 20% = 240 calories Fat: 25% = 300 calories Carbohydrates: 55% = 660 calories Use these guidelines to ensure proper nutrition. At 1200 calories, there isn't any room for empty calories (junk food, soda, etc.). Make sure you eat five fruits and vegetables each day. Follow the government pyramid food guidelines to stay healthy.

A. 1 shot of Bacardi is about 95-110 calories depending on whether the shot is 1 oz or 1.25 oz. Obviously, Diet Coke has no calories. Just drink plenty of water if you choose to drink alcohol so that the next day you won't feel like poop and you can do some extra cardio. A. Your not getting any answers because Muscle does weight a lot more than fat. You have gained 4 lbs because you have gained muscle weight. Toning up helps your breast milk get richer and your weight get heavier, However, if you look real close, you will notice that you are losing in size.

Could a 1200 calorie weight loss diet fail if portions are too large?
Q. Some foods such as soup, oatmeal, and even fat-free/sugar-free pudding can offer a large portion size without adding up to many calories. I started a 1200 calorie diet today but I was wondering if eating these portion sizes (which are rather large) - even if I stay under 1200 calories - will hinder my efforts. Has anyone had experience with this?

A. dont listen to people telling you about starvation or panic mode... it is impossible to gain weight not eating it is impossible to gain weight in starvation mode. most anorexics, eat less than 500 calories a day, and excersise off about half of what they eat however, they have "binge" days aorund 1000 cals probably once every week or two. even in starvation mode, you still need WAY more than 500 calories. maybe like 1500 calories. so that is a deficit of 1000 cals a day anyway, so they still lose weight in starvation mode, your body sets aside everything you eat into fat stores, but since you still need ~1500 calories a day, it takes it out of the fat stores again, so you lose weight they live like that for ages, so they are skinny even… [cont.]

A. By restricting your calories, you are going to actually prevent yourself from losing weight. If you simply exercise daily and eat 1500 calories a day, you will lose the weight in about 5-6 months. Don't starve yourself to get thin...It won't work and you are not helping your body at all!

How effective is the 1200 calorie diet?
Q. 18 yrs old, 63 inches, weighs 120 pounds, want to get down to 100 pounds on a 1200 calorie diet. I walk a mile a day for 5 days. I really want to have skinny legs. I have skinny arms already. When will I reach my goal? I know it is unhealthy. i actually weigh 115 pds.

A. how is it unhealthy? Instead of a mile walk an hour. You can get at least 3 miles a day that way. If your already in a healthy weight range its going to take quite a long time. maybe up to 5 months. But if you manage to lose 2 pounds a week i'd say you can get it done in 2-3 months
