what is the name of the old 1950s or 1960s movie about teenagers stalking a family on a road trip?
Q. I remember in the early 1970s when I was around 12 years old, I watched a movie from the 1950s or '60s about a family on a road trip who were terrorized by juvenile delinquents until the father finally outwitted the delinquents in the end. Does anyone know the name of this film? Thanks so much.

A. It could be this film: Hot Rods to Hell (1967) starring Dana Andrews, Jeanne Crain, Mimsy Farmer, Laurie Mock, Paul Bertoya, Gene Kirkwood, Tim Stafford (aka Jeffrey Byron), Mickey Rooney Jr. IMDb synopsis: Tom Phillips, his wife Peg their teenage daughter, Tina, and little boy, Jamie, drive through the California desert, heading for a new life running a motel. Things go haywire when teenage bad girl Gloria and her two delinquent boyfriends, Duke and Ernie, chase them, with Duke attempting to seduce the daughter, finally driving Dad to take action. The movie trailer can be seen after the one for "The Young Runaways", which stars Patty McCormack, who as a child starred in "The Bad Seed":

I was born in 1954, so I don't remember much about the way things actually were in the fifties. I do know that they were presenting entertainment, there was no effort to try and represent the way life actually was. There were situations that were similar to what families would encounter, but no one was expected to believe that something as serious as Lucy juggling the money back and forth between her club treasury and her household accounts could be resolved in 22 minutes, as far as the club funds were concerned this was a criminal offense. A. Try putting a want add on Its a great website and you will definately get alot more responses there. Also for more responses put your add in more than one area and make a new add each day in each area. But you will have to change it up a bit because they only allow 1 add every three days so you will have to retype it... But that will definately work...be patient and you will find one. Good Luck HTH

why did phone numbers in the 1950s have numbers and letters?
Q. In watching movies and tv shows from the 1950s and 60s, i notice people seemed to have phone numbers that consisted of letters and numbers- for example, on a 1960 Twilight Zone episode, someone had a phone number of 'trafalgar 1948'. A. London, England, is most notable for using the first three letters, then the last four digits. New York, USA, was the first American location to use so-called "2-5 numbers" or 2L-5D, two letters and five digits. This became the North American standard as customer-dialled long distance service (Direct Distance Dialing) came into use through the 1950s. As demand for phone service grew, the supply of assignable phone numbers began to dwindle, and several North American area codes were split to enable reuse of numbers. As the growth accelerated, the decision was made to switch to All-Number Calling (ANC), since there were several unpronounceable letter combinations that were not being used. This allowed more efficient use of the number supply;… [cont.]

A. Back then, they used what is referred to as "pin curls". It's where you wind up sections of hair into little swirls, and hold it in place with bobby pins. Very effective to get curly WILD hair. lol :D My mother used to pin curl my hair (long time ago) and it never failed to give me a lot of body.

What effects would Communism bring to families in the 1950s?
Q. I know what communism is, but what exactly would happen if it did start to become popular in the United States in the early 1950s? I want a detailed answer but nothing exaggerated please. :) Thanks..
Asked by The Wolf - Thu Jan 22 22:47:58 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It doesn't matter if it was popular or not because the US government would never allow it to occur. However had this nation turned communist we would probably follow the USSR because on paper communism works but people are naturally greedy and always looking to get ahead thus people will never be equal. I feel the nation would stagnate economically and eventually turn capitalist again but this is all speculation.

The little towns from the 1950s were probably all built in the 1920s or 30s or even teen years. After the war the suburban sprawl began. Some little cities like Sunnyvale picked up mass housing projects in 50s into 60s.

(Carson Robison) The sun comes up and the sun goes down And the hands on the clock go round and roumd I just wake up and it's time to lay down, Life gets teejus, doon't it. My shoe's untied, but, shucks, I don't care Cuz I recon I ain't a-goin' nowhere, I'd brush my teeth and comb my hair Just too much wasted effort. The water in the well get lower and lower, Ain't had a bath in a month or more I've heard it said and I'm sure it's true That too much bathing will weaken you. Danged ol' mule, he must be sick. I jabbed him in the rump with a pin on a stick He hunched his back, but he wouldn't kick Something cock-eyed somewhere. Hound dog's howling so forlorn Laziest dawg that ever was born He's howlin' 'cau [cont.]

Q. In the early 1950s, there was a song on the radio that included the words, "the dog's a howlin cause it lying on a thorn and is too darn lazy to get off it". The song was sung by a man with a mournful voice. How can I find the name of the song, the words and the name of the singer?

What's a good 1950s persona for a lingerie company?
Q. I need to create a persona for a lingerie company that has elegant and sexy apparel, and I need it associated with pin-up (1950s). The current persona that needs to be changed is Lingerie Diva.

A. Why don't you check frederick'S of hollywood? They sell retro like lingerie and you can start from there.
