What are some fad diets that actually worked for you?
Q. Diets that involve either packaged meals or ways to eat, like Nutrisystem. I want people to only speak from experience here. I know Nutrisystem seems great but the food like really disgusting and I would not eat it everyday. I don't want to know about Weight Watchers either. I exericse regularly but I need a good eating pattern. Not looking to be told to eat plenty of vegetables and acai berries. Looking for input on fad meal planning diets. Thanks!

What in society today do you think is a fad and will be looked back on as a joke in the future?
Q. I think reality shows are definitely an annoying fad that we will hopefully look back on in shame... What do you think is a fad today? Anything from clothes to tv etc...
Asked by mike12streem - Mon Feb 23 20:16:18 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I've always wondered this... The 70's had the bell bottoms and platforms. The 80's had the big hair and acid washed jeans... Even the 90's had some telltale fashion mistakes... but I can't think of anything that we would look back on from today and think, "What were we thinking??!" But maybe it's because I'm living in today, and it's kinda hard to think out of context.

When is the emo fad going to die out?
Q. I have a couple of friends who are kind of emo since like age 9, and well since the emo fad started they kinda just got depressed that they can't be different anymore. So now I'm put between this whole mad rage between 2 groups of my friends who completely hate each other. 1 group is all about the fad, aka "scene", and the other, the actual life style. So overall I would just like to know when the fad dies, so my scene friends can move on to some other look.
Asked by iFeel - Sat Jun 12 00:17:46 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Your friends will change their look when they want to. I don't think the fad itself will die out but rather the person captivated by the fad will come to a realization and change.

Is making toast in the bathroom a new fad for teens?
Q. I was about ready to go to bed this evening when I noticed my son and his cult were crowding into the downstairs bathroom, and they had the toaster with them. They're being very loud down there and used up all of the hot water. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it just a new teen fad?

Who cannot wait for the Twilight fad to end?
Q. Because yes children, it is a fad and will be thankfully be forgotten within the next 3 to 5 years. At the VERY least, 10 years, but by then the screaming fan girls will have grown up a little and moved on to books with actual literary merit. to yerosmyhero: I don't mean to offend you, and yes i know people are allowed to have their opinions. I will stop writing about how much I dislike twilight when the twilight fangirls stop obsessing over it all over yahoo-answers books and authors section.

what is the relationship between NAD and FAD ?
Q. NAD has two ribose units in it'sstructure ,FAD has a ribose and a ribitol . my question is what is the relationship between these molecules ?
Asked by no0ony - Sun May 24 15:07:35 2009 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments

A. NAD+ and FAD+ receive electrons and H+ in respiration and carry these to the electron transport chain on the inner mitochondrial membrane. NADH2 feeds into Complex I and the lower energy molecule FADH2 feeds into Complex II lower down the chain. Approximately 3 ATP are made per NADH2 and 2 ATP made per FADH2.

How do I lose weight without a fad diet or expensive exercise machine that doesnt work?
Q. I am 5'5 and I weigh 157. I would like to lose a bit of weight (preferably get to 130 lbs ) and tone up. I am already walking and I am swimming about 1-2 times a week. Swimming will end when the summer ends though. What can I do? What should I cut out/try to eat more of?
Asked by th mTh - Mon Jul 28 01:48:32 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The best way to lose weight is gradually, and to never starve yourself. If you starve yourself, your metabolism (ability to burn calories) becomes slower and when you start eating a normal meal it packs on even more weight very quickly. Also exercise is extremely important; it will greatly increase your metabolism and give you plenty of energy. So a change in lifestyle - for life - is the best way - no fad diets. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits and lean meats (or beans, legumes, tofu if you're vegetarian). Complex carbohydrates such as whole grain bread, brown rice, whole wheat crackers are nutritious and more filling than anything made from white flour. So limit white carbs such as potatoes, rice, pasta. Make sure you chew 20-30 [cont.]

When did the fad of underarm shaving start?
Q. What is the justification? Armpit smell is not considered bad universally. The idea that it started to fight lice is unsatisfying as well because lice were a universal until very recently and wouldn't explain why men don't shave their pits.
Asked by The J Man - Fri Feb 20 10:36:16 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I had always assumed it was an American thing with the start of sleeveless dresses in the early 20th century. But after finding this information online, it seems to have began long before America. Text provided by the website 4to40.com The recorded history of armpit shaving is a spotty one indeed. The earliest reference we have found was that the ancient Babylonians, more than one thousand years before the birth of Christ, developed depilatories to remove unwanted body hairs. Julius Caesar reported that early Britons "had long flowing hairs and shaved every part of their bodies except the head and upper lip", but this quotation may refer only to men. We do know that barbers removed superfluous hair from the eyebrows, nostrils, arms,… [cont.]

What do you think is worse: the twilight fad or the hating twilight fad?
Q. I used to think all of the twilight obsessed teenagers were super annoying. But now it's cool to hate twilight as well. So which is worse?
Asked by Tamara - Thu Oct 8 21:50:58 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Twilight fad, in my opinion. The Twilight fan girls annoy me, but I'd rather be known for hating it, than being one of them. I didn't like the bad acting in the movie, and I found lots of problems with the writing of the books, and the storyline. I find it cliche, and it's not what I look for in a good book. Plus, the character of Bella annoys me, as she always needs saving. I hate weak characters. I don't dislike it because it is cool to do so, but because I actually DON'T like it. I read the books, and tortured myself with the movie, so you can't say I didn't give it a fair try. The only reason I watched the film was to listen to Paramore's contribution to the soundtrack. To be honest, I'm indifferent. When people bring Twilight… [cont.]

Is decorating with iron pieces in your home a fad? Will these iron pieces go out of style?
Q. like brass and shag carpet? In my area the tuscan look is in and that is why I asked about my crystal. All the model homes are spanish style decor--browns, creams, chocolates, etc. It is pretty, but I like my crystal too. I love paintings and it seems like all of the wall hangings in these model homes are tuscan prints and iron wall hangings. I am afraid to invest too much money in something that seems like another trend of the day. What do you think?
Asked by kaspercoffee - Mon Aug 20 20:09:03 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Alas, style and decor is always changing, especially in this country. Don't follow the trend unless it is something you really like and remember unless you can afford it you will be living with your choice for a long time. Thank God my orange shag carpet was in the bedroom!

A. If you want to lose weigh, never binge on food when you are bored, depressed, or stressed. This will never lose you weight. Put some love and determination on losing weight. Be consistent. If you say NO to fat-giving foods, it's a sure thing that you'll lose weight. But since you don't want fad diets, you can try introducing a set of exercise routine in your daily habit. The one that worked for me is the Body Renovator. This the easy solution for long term weight loss.

Is leadership a subject worth studying or just a fad?
Q. This week in my leadership class I have to give a debate and write a paper on whether leadership is a subjet worth studying or whether it's just kind of a fad. I would like your guys input, I may use it to springboard my ideas and or may use quotes from you to do a little debate on my own in the paper. Thanks.
Asked by chillinginchicago - Tue Nov 6 14:55:42 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. leadership is not a fad. it is what occurs when there is more than one person present. there will always be leaders as long as we live amongst others. leadership is important to study not only in matters of societal changes and meeting needs but as a personal way to grow and develop oneself. we should think as leaders that is to say not follow others without giving thought to what we believe is best and right. we should "lead" our lives and not run with the crowd just to blend in.

A. Velocity Diet from T-nation.com In a nutshell: liquid diet all week with one solid meal. Kind of cool the first day or two as you find it convenient to be using a blender to make all your meals. Then you start getting hungry and want to chew your food instead of slurping shakes all day. Lost some decent weight - but was hell for not having anything solid in your stomach.
